ACDelco & Holden Motorsport – Celebrating 50 years of association

2018-01-24T17:07:51+11:00January 24th, 2018|ACDelco, Racing|

ACDelco & Holden Motorsport - Celebrating 50 years of association ACDelco is celebrating 50 years since its first association with the Holden Dealer Team back in 1968. Throughout the 70’s and 80’s the ‘AC Spark Plugs’ logo was prominent and synonymous with a succession of successful Holden race cars and icons like Brock, Harvey, Bond and Richards. “AC” Spark Plug and “Delco” (originally Dayton Engineering Laboratories COmpany) merged back in the 1970’s to form “ACDelco” and become a global force for quality automotive parts to the aftermarket industry. Fast forward to today, and “AC’s” evolution into ACDelco has come full circle, with the announcement that the Australian and NZ arm of this global giant will be joining forces with the Red Bull Holden Racing Team for the 2018 season in the Supercars Championship Series. See the full article HERE To help celebrate R&J Batteries are giving away a clothing pack to a lucky winner who likes and shares the Facebook post. Winner will be announced on the 9th February. GARTNER STRIKES GOLD AT RAINBOW Penola’s Greg Gartner and Jamie Jennings struck gold at the Rainbow Desert Enduro on the weekend, skating their new new #410 R&J Batteries Extreme 2wd Trophy Truck through the mud to take the outright victory. Fresh out of the box from the USA, Gartner debuted the new Geiser Brothers Trophy Truck just a fortnight ago with fourth outright and first in class at Waikerie and backed it up by stepping on to the top step of the podium at Rainbow, which was also the final round of the 2017 CAMS BFGoodrich Australian Off Road Championship. “We are pretty thrilled with the win and it is good to be here. To have a fourth and an outright win in the first two runs in the new truck is a good start and we are happy. The Geiser Truck is 110% and it is great to be back on top of the AORC podium for the first time since winning Finke in 2011.” Commented Greg at the finish-line as the rain came down. Gartner started the weekend in style, running fourth in the prologue after a timing glitch initially had them listed down in 30th, then stepped up to third in the top ten shoot out. Championship leader, Travis Robinson got the jump on Gartner off the line on Saturday afternoon’s two lap section which left the South Australian covered in mud. “We stuck with him and chased Travis for 35-40km and got covered in [...]

GARTNER BACK IN BLACK AT RAINBOW Two weeks after taking the Class 4 win and fourth outright in the new #410 R&J Batteries Geiser Bros Extreme 2wd Trophy Truck at the Waikerie Hotel Riverland Enduro, Greg Gartner and Jamie Jennings will be back in the hot seats this weekend at the Rainbow Desert Enduro. Just across the border from the teams Penola base, Rainbow will be a great opportunity for the crew to get more miles on the truck against a quality field, as the drivers battle it out at the final round of the 2017 CAMS BFGoodrich Australian Off Road Championship. “With very limited testing and time in the seat, I was very impressed with the truck out of the box at the Riverland Enduro and I’m happy to have locked away a good result with it on its first outing. We need to dial the suspension a bit more, but it is a lot closer than I expected it to be. If I can push a bit harder and brake a bit later we won’t be far off the pace.”   Starting in twelfth after the prologue at Waikerie, Gartner won the drag race against the Wilson Jimco off the start line and quickly settled into the groove, working his way up to sixth by the mid point of the race. In the closing stages, Gartner pushed a bit harder and greeted the chequered flag in fourth outright after a solid 300+km of racing.“The truck felt good and strong and there was nothing wrong with it after the four laps at Waikerie. If [...]

FROM EAST TO WEST The 2017 motorsport season is now in full swing for Greg Gartner Motorsport with the roost from the #410 Trophy Truck at the ARB Sunraysia 400 just settling in time for this weekends return to the R&J Batteries Super Stadium Truck hot seat in Perth. It will be the Stadium Super Trucks debut in the West at the Perth Supersprint and Greg Gartner is looking forward to the challenge ahead. “Barbagallo Raceway is another new track for us and I’m pretty excited about getting back behind the wheel of the R&J Batteries SST and bringing this no-holds-barred sport to a brand new audience. Wherever we have been to date the crowd has loved the huge jumps and close racing and Perth won’t be any different.” “We’ve developed some good rivalries over the past 18 months with many of the US and Aussie teams, but it is cool to have the Wildman, Beau Robinson that we’ve battled with at Finke on the grid and having a crack on the tarmac this time round.” Said Greg Racing kicks off on Friday morning with Practice and Qualifying at 10.50am, before the gloves come off and the Stadium Super Trucks are unleashed on the 2.423km track for an 11 lap race at 3.35pm. Saturday sees another practice at 10:15am, followed by race 2 at 1:40pm just ahead of the Supercars. On Sunday morning the SST’s open proceedings with practice at 9:20 before their final race at 1:10pm. (*Local WA Time) After a summer of Stadium Super Trucks and Speedway cars, Greg Gartner’s return to the dirt with navigator Jamie Jennings at the [...]

GARTNER SIXES CLIPSAL The high-flying Stadium Super Trucks returned to the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide for the third time on the weekend with Penola’s Greg Gartner once again piloting the #410 R&J Batteries truck in the three-race event. Amidst a line up of international stars including Robby Gordon, Sheldon Creed and ex-V8 Supercar pilot Paul Morris, Gartner more than held his own to finish a consistent sixth in each of the three races.  Teething issues with the truck during Thursday’s practice and qualifying sessions put Gartner behind the eight ball early in the weekend. “Unfortunately we did a power steering belt during practice then the afternoon's qualifying session was also cut short when we broke an axle. So we only had limited time to test and re-acclimatise to the truck, leaving us to chase set-up all weekend. Because we are not in SST all the time every lap is very valuable to me to get to understand how the truck works, especially as we spend most of our time racing on dirt, not tar.” “Everything started to fall into place in Sunday's final race, but it was cut short and we only got 4-5 racing laps in due to Dontas’s roll early in the race. But it was the best the truck had been all weekend, after some changes to the setup and adjustments to my driving style. You need to be aggressive with these trucks and be prepared to rub panels. I generally have kept it clean, and everyone else doesn’t mind swapping a bit of paint, so we need [...]

Gartner Ready to Launch

GARTNER READY TO LAUNCH South Australian Off Road Racer, Greg Gartner will fire up the V8 under the hood of the #410 R&J Batteries Stadium Super Truck later this week for four days of high-flying action at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide. A regular starter on the Australian Stadium Super Truck grid, Gartner will pick up where he left off on the Gold Coast, locking horns with an all-star cast that includes US Stars Robby Gordon and Sheldon Creed, local talents Paul Morris, Toby Price, Craig Dontas and Matt Mingay. “Clipsal is our home event and always has an amazing atmosphere with over 250,000 spectators coming through the gates over the race weekend. There is no doubt they are all here to see the trucks fly and there is nothing better than hitting those ramps and three-wheeling it through the corners in front of a packed house.” “Stadium Super Trucks are a fantastic way to showcase what we all love about offroad motorsport. As soon as the ramps hit the tarmac and the trucks roll out on the circuit it is standing room only for the whole race, with the crowd grasping every vantage point to get a glimpse as we fly past.” The trucks hit the track on Thursday for practice at 11:55am then qualifying at 6:20pm, ahead of Race 1 on Friday at 12:45pm, Race 2 on Saturday at 1:30pm and the third and final race on Sunday at 2:15pm. Keep your eyes open for the brand new R&J Batteries Greg Gartner Motorsport livery, which returns to a blue theme for 2017. “We have a pretty hectic racing schedule over the [...]
